Kauer Is oh my…

I quite like that. Kinda reminds me of some of those art-deco style guitars that J. Backlund used to post over on HC. It's like a squared-off Firebird. Kauer should bring it, or something close to it, to market.

Edit: OK, I went to the Kauer website, and the Gripen does already exist, so scratch that comment about bringing it to market. In fact, if I had $4k burning a hole in my pocket, I'd get one of these.

As noted this a one off. The problem with the bolt on neck is that they would need to retaper that bolt on area when trying to reach the upper frets. So Doug will not be doing this model but that natural wood is beautiful.

There is a positive but you need to be a bass player. Yes a Gripen Bass has been made but it has a different name - it is called a Draken.

The Gripen is real!!! Doug introduced it at NAMM this past January. It starts with the same blanks as a Banshee (Kauer version of a Firebird) and is a beautiful guitar. Much more balanced than the Banshee which due to the scale length is neck heavy. Tried to win one at last weekends Kauerfest but my number was not chosen.

That Gripen bass is badass. But I don’t have the money to spend that much on a single instrument.

My brain just wants to make some aluminum frames that bolt on to finish the firebird/explorer shape before the ends of the wings got chopped off.
