That trailer sucked though.

(SPOILERS)

From watching the trailer you learn that Watney...
- is alive
- is stranded on Mars
- can't communicate with Earth, but then...
- figures out how to communicate with Earth...
- and then the crew discusses mutiny against NASA to rescue him
- and it strongly implies that the people on Earth learn that Watney is still alive

Soooo, thanks trailer, for spoiling several of the story's key points of suspense. If I hadn't already read the book I'd be pissed off.

I hate when trailers do this.

I enjoyed the shit out of that book.
Cautiously optimistic about the movie.

Well, I was kinda excited to see the movie....

I have not read the book, and now I have no desire to see the movie.

The spoilertrailer really ruined it.

The trailer doesn't give away much.

Yes, Watney is alive and stranded on Mars. You find that out in the first page of the book. He can't communicate with earth. Page three at the latest. The rest isn't exactly hard to guess.

If good SCIENCE fiction is your cup of tea, then you'd be doing yourself a huge disservice by not reading this book.

Looks like Matt Damon, as Tom Hanks, in Cast Away, on Mars.

Actually looks pretty good. Glad the trailer told me everything I need to know. Don't want my entertainment to make me think too much.

I don't recall that I read that book. Will have to go on the list. Without it being too much of a spoiler, does the "administration" or NASA or whoever continue to maintain that he died after his messages got through to the crew members and they go rogue to rescue him? I know they go against NASA, from the trailer, but does NASA try to cover it up?

Yes & no would both be accurate answers. It's a decent book, and you can find a pdf ver online for free

I love this kind of stuff. I grew up walking distance from the woods and we used to do survivalist stuff for fun.
