As long as I can keep it up I'm going to try and find one cool site everyday and post it in here...as big as the internet is I'm sure this will go on for some time....

My inaugural "Site of the day" is a plug for Barrett Tagliarino's "MonsterGuitars.com".

He is the author of one of my all time favorite music theory books for guitar....the "Guitar Fretboard Workbook".

If you know me from any of the forums or have taken lessons with me you know that I recommend the book incessantly.  Barrett has several instructional books and it looks like a CD coming out soon....

Check him out at http://monsterguitars.com/!

Re: Guitar Site of the Day

The first few sites are going to be plugs for the books I use on a regular basis with my students, or books that I have found personally useful...

The other "must have" book that I teach out of is "FUNK GUITAR The Essential Guide" by Ross Bolton.

No matter what style of music you play just working through this book will really focus your rhythm guitar mechanics and improve your control of the instrument. Another book I wish I had written.... ;D

I was hoping there would be more stuff on his site:

http://www.rossbolton.com/mainv2.htm

Since it is more of an "artist" site I thought I would link to some of his Youtube videos

Demonstrating the Xotic BB Preamp:

An excerpt from his Funk Guitar instructional video:

Prosound Communications "Reality Web Video"

Its really an ad for their pedals, but there are hundreds of video of high end session and touring guitarists demonstrating how they use the pedals in their rigs. I just like watching the guys play but you also get to see players like Scott Henderson, Andy Timmons and Michael Thompson set up their equipment....kind of a "guilty pleasure" website for me :)

I'm in the middle of this book (with Mark teaching me) and it has really improved my rhythm. I will likely never play funk, but this is still a great book to get.

Re: Guitar Site of the Day

Mark,

Do you realise what you are doing to my day? ;D

I think I spend more time on guitar forums and guitar-related sites each day than I do on anything else (except perhaps sleeping although that could change with this thread)!

Cheers,
Ron

Those 'Musicians Institute' series of books which I find are very good, are getting harder to find as publication dates are from the 90s and early 00s (Funk Guitar is 2001).

Really? I stock them here in the studio and we don't have any trouble getting them...I would think online should be easier...

I'm hoping it's just a restock problem but two MI books I've placed orders for in the last two weeks from my UK online bookshop have been cancelled with 'this item is no longer available'.
