I ordered myself another LP Standard a few days ago. This one is a 60's. Guitar Center exclusive in lemon honey burst, i think they called it.

Anyway, it was regular $2999, but they had it 30% off so I snagged it for $2099.

It arrived today. It's set up really well and I don't see any type of flaws a lot of folks like to complain about with Gibson.
This is actually my 3rd Gibson in a year. A SJ-200 Studio, a sparkle red LP Standard, and this one. All three are killer guitars.

Obligatory pics.

I hear people complain about Gibsons and then when I play them I wonder what the hell they are talking about.

I guess I have no standards. (Killer pun because I own 3 Gibsons but no LP Standads.)

Also, speak of the devil because, you were mentioned in Bainum's or, Smurfco's get togther post.

You got 30% off that? It’s gorgeous! They shouldn’t have to discount something that looks so good. HNLPD!

I’ve heard it’s a buyer’s market right now, and I think I’m going to test that out when I return from this two week odyssey I’m on.

Sweet!

It;s funny how I try not to play my Les Paul as much as possible but it's become so important to me for work that I got the cheap PRS that could cover for it on gigs. I'm not really a fan of Gibson as a company but "I can't quit them" as a guitarist.

It's funny. I wanted a Les Paul since GnR broke in 87. Fishy got one when I was 33. Never loved it. Traded it for an SG. Hated it and traded it a free years later and with ask the price increase, I figured I'd never own another.

Feel into a sweet dream from ShawnEVH for a Signature T for $1300 and after a pickup swap, I loved it. Then Sweetwater ran a desk for a sparkle red 50s standard for something like $1800, and I loved it. Then this one fell into my lap at $2099.

I had also wanted a Taylor since I was a teenager and acquired 2 of them. Great guitars, but again, a good deal on a Gibson Jumbo cake along and I jumped on it. My Taylors haven't seen a gig since. May end up selling at least one of them.

Do in the just year, I've bought Gibsons and two Edwards. Still own an the Findings and one of the Edwards, plus I have a Goldtop P90 Edwards Les Paul from 2007.

I may just own more Gibsons than any other brand or style at this point.

I guess I got old.

I used to be in the Gibson is a joke club until I bought one. And another. And another. And another. Three of those are long gone but I’ve bought two more over the years. Gibson and Fender USA are far from perfect, but for me there’s something magical about the old designs and lacquer finishes.

Weirdly, the only LP I ever loved was a “Junior Special” from back when they were using baked maple fretboards. I still rue trading that one off…
