Happy Meteorological Spring

"March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb.”

Historically, March has been the snowiest month here in Colorado. Since I’m a skier and this winter has been drier than usual, I’m looking forward to more snow.

Happy Helical Spring!

We have not had a single big snowstorm all winter. There are going to be horrible wildfires this year. I need to take out an insurance policy on the guitars and amps.

Meteorological seasons are simple. They follow the calendar, the 1st of March, June, September, December.

Your circuit board suggests something a bit more complicated, which is like the astronomical seasons. The dates shift slightly based on tilt and orbit and they have a specific time component. Examples: Spring Equinox - March 20th, 2026 at 10:46 am. Summer Solstice - June 21st, 2026 at 4:24 am.

Even with the date not being consistent because the need of leap years, that one's closer to actual spring so, still less stupid.
It actually begins March 20th, 2026, not the 19th. My bad. And, yes, Astronomical Spring is considered Actual Spring. Don’t say that to the Meteorologists and Climatologists or you might hurt their feelings.

In the southern hemisphere, spring is in September. I’ve never been below the equator. Maybe, someday.

Spring in the Rockies typically comes with snow storms. We had a small one last night. It started off as rain and became snow. I had to warm up the cars and use an ice scraper to free the snow from the glass.

Temps started out at freezing, 30 F, this morning. But, the high is expected to be 59 which will melt the snow.

Supposed to have high in the mid 70s Friday. Snow Sunday night.

We were also supposed to get 3 to 5 inches of rain this week. They called it a train of storms. Everybody was stoked because of the severe drought. Maybe, we might get 1/4 of an inch tomorrow.
