Gibson’s speakers are as bad as their guitars.

In January 2023 I bought a pair of KRK Rockit monitors. Both of them have failed. It was the same thing; they just stopped powering up. (The fuses are intact.) Of course KRK is a Gibson subsidiary. Fortunately they have a three year warranty but they’ll probably die again after that. Next time I’m just going to buy Behringer. Everybody is making their stuff in China, I might as well buy from the company that owns its factory so it can do better quality control.

It has to be pretty bad for Gibson not to put their name on it.

Their guitars are terrible. That’s why I own three.

I have a pair of Kali LP6 and/or a pair of Focal Alpha6 I'm looking to sell if you're interested...

I still have one I bought new that needs work to get the strings to stop rattling. There’s a high fret in there somewhere. Next time I’m buying used so someone else has sorted this shit out.

I had a pair of KRK 5" monitors. After about 15 years I now have one. I thought they lasted pretty good for low end product. Had an issue with the power supply. Thought I fixed it then failed again within a week. I had no idea they were owned by Gibson. Not that I care.
My Gibson amp came with a Jensen speaker.
My next guitar will most likely be a Gibson 335.

I have been using the same M-Audio BX5a monitors for 15 years with never an issue. Do I love the look of Gibson Les Pauls, absolutely, however being very concerned about the variation in fit and finish I read about, I have a Heritage.

My M-Audio monitors lasted 13 years. Unfortunately movers killed one of them when we moved. I bought the Rockits because I often listen to EDM while I’m working and these speakers are designed for that. And they do sound great for just about everything after I spent a month playing music 12 hours a day to break them in. But that doesn’t matter if they crap out for no reason :(

Well the new Cure album will be available to stream in a few hours and the fuckers at Gibson still haven’t sent my new speaker. So I’m stuck with headphones. Fuckers.

if you buy an original Mark I, you'll have no problems
I was thinking about buying one of the new Mark VII combos because they cover so much range. Even knowing that Mesa is probably cutting corners now that Gibson owns them. But I’m not going to pay that much for an amp with garbage warranty support. I assume that a warranty issue would require sending the amp in because the circuit is probably too complicated for most amp techs to deal with.

The replacements showed up today. I guess they ran out of the RP5G5 in white so they sent me a set of two new RP5G5s. But in black. And the new model has grilles. They don’t look nearly as cool as the old ones did sitting in from of the white window blinds. But Songs of a Lost World sounds really good in 24-bit.
