E dominant jam

I'm thinking about putting together a series of backing tracks for my students to use as we work on improvisation....I might redo this one with a better bassline and a rhythm guitar too.

That stuff works! I like how you have some thematic ideas that you work through there. It just sounds like you are not comfortable with the feel...my biggest suggestion is trying to play more rhythmically in the pocket with this one...

Yeah, you nailed it..It's the groove I'm struggling with..funny how slower tempos can kick your ass.

absolutely harder to play slow than to play fast....its really easy to not know how "unpocketed" you are the faster you play.

Take two :embarrassed:

I think this is a bit better..still need to work on getting right in the pocket..it's tough for me at this tempo..which is a good thing to know really, so I can work on it. I tried to give myself more time in between lines..so I could build on the previous line..sort of

So this is where backing tracks go? I guess when I do an improv, I could cut out the lead tracks, remix and toss the backings here.....? Of course some of the stuff I do is a little sick....but we'll see how it goes....

This track seems cool.... I could improve to a simple track like this all day...... With only bass and drums it leave the field pretty wide open to do all kinds of chord progs..... Or heck, lead stuff could go anywhere....
