Challenged by my daughter's friend...(guitar content)

Is that your request?

I don't do it quite like any of the versions I've ever heard, but I get by with it. :embarrassed:

Not sure if that would be my top request or not but I would love to be able to play it. I have always thought it was over my head though.

So now I have to learn Little Wing and Back In Black......

Well - I am at home alone most of the day tomorrow. I'm hoping to get some recording done. It's hard during the week because the TV is right above my music room and the sound leaks through when I am trying to do quieter stuff....

I don't think i can pull off the stretches that Back In Black requires...luckily its about my 18th favorite AC/DC song...

Little Wing...the very words intimidate me...

Ok, seriously, out of curiosity -

What is it that people find challenging about this particular song? I mean, a lot of you are very solid guitarists, and I'd never have imagined "Sweet Home Alabama" being described as tricky here. What's up?

Something like "Little Wing" is another story altogether.

Maybe they didn't get to sit in Mark's performance class with a bunch of 13 year olds.

Man, that was a low blow...

:annoyed:

I've never even looked at a Back In Black TAB so I have no clue about the stretches. I have really small hands so that could present a problem. And I agree that it is no where near my fave AC/DC tune either.

I don't know that I would put myself into the 'solid' guitar player category. I'm just a step or two above a hack.....but I can play Sweet Home decently. There are a couple of runs that are not the easiest thing to pull off cleanly. The intro and the rhythm fills in the middle are the only things to that song that are not braindead. Otherwise it is a three chord wonder. OK - there is a fourth chord played two or three times.

I'm really sorry, I didn't mean it; I just thought that you were being facetious or sarcastic. Honestly, I've seen 13-year-olds give decent performances of that song. I'm probably adding insult to injury here, but I really don't get it. How long have you been playing?

Here's my Sweet Home Alabama video.

Since I don't do any talking in the video...

Chords are D, C, G.

Like I've said with all my other videos, this may not be the "correct" way to play it, but it gets the job done.

I didn't wanna be a dick, but since flamencology already mentioned it, anyone who's played for a year should know sweet home alabama imo.

And as for little wing, i was VERY lucky because my dad didn't mess with tab but had (and still does) a GREAT ear. It was one of the first songs he taught me, intro and everything. I was very young when i learned to play it and had some trouble with parts that used the thumb, but it was just too cool being able string together all the parts and make it sound like the song. I think having someone to show you things in person helps alot when your starting out. :embarrassed:

Guess what Good_User_Name, you are a fucking dick three times over.

I thought this was a "guitar lesson forum", not a "shit on a guy who is having a bit of trouble figuring out a part of a song he has been trying to play for all of 20 minutes forum".

So Good_User_Name, you and Flamencology can go fuck yourselves. stfu

Prages, thanks for the help. Needless to say, I will never ask for anymore.
