Carvin guitars are no more?!?

i've only played one Carvin guitar so far in my life. i didn't like the one i tried, but in fairness it was used and poorly set up.

I still like the idea of quite a few Carvin guitars through the years. I've never actually played one though, so I don't hate the disillusioned hate that a certain amount of the guitar playing world has. That said Jbird seems happy with his Carvins...as I like to think I would be with those models.

I still think the X-100B is a great amp, especially for the price. It's pretty much the same thing as a Fryette (VHT) Pittbull, maybe without quite as much gain. And the old '80s ones were built to last. No idea on the newer reissue ones, though I'm sure they are fairly quality-built too. The Legacy is probably a great amp too, though I've never played one.

I had a Carvin Tele type years ago. I forget the model number, but it really was a fantastic guitar. Exceptionally well built, beautiful finish, amazing versatility. I actually wish I still had it.

Never been too keen on most of their offerings, but that's more to do with aesthetics than anything.

Whether you like them or not, it's sad to see an end of an Era come to pass. Carvin originated right here in my humble little home town of Escondido Ca. As a teen in the 80's, it was always cool to go to their factory/showroom and ogle all of the toys. You never knew who you might run into. This was before they had a showroom in Hollywood, Escondido was the ONLY place to see their wares.

On any given day, you were apt to get shewed out the door because Alex Lifeson or some other mega rock star was in the building.

That was fun. It sucked when they moved the whole operation to a neighboring town, but they had no real choice at the time.

Anyway, that's a bummer.

I have owned a few Carvin guitars. They were well built and finished. Everyone of them played great. With a pup swap they were great guitars.
I wish I still had my C66 and DC 127

I used to be a huge fan boy of this company. I played a carvin legacy in different bands for years. People still tell me was the best I ever had.

I also own a bunch of their guitars. All of them well-made but at the end of the day they all felt really stiff. Nothing I did to my them change that. I would probably give another want to go at some point

I have one of those late 80's carpeted X100B half stacks. The thing sounds like heaven. A really nice clean channel and a great hot rod marshall sound, all with an ACTIVE eq and reverb. The cab I have has celestion speakers. I love the damn thing. I bought it off the local craigslist for something like 250 bucks. I bought it to flip the head for more cash and sell the speakers out of the cab, but it sounded so cool I kept it. Not sure about the current model X100B amps, as I never played one.

As for their guitars, I've played a few of them, and I never played one that made me really want to own one. The ones I played were fine guitars, but they just didn't grab me.

As far as I can tell as a casual observer, this is mostly a name change...their ugly ass guitars will still exist, just under the Kiesel brand, no?

I've played a handful of used ones over the years. Decent guitars but none that compelled me to make a purchase.

I was too, and I've owned several over the years. All of them were great, I just couldn't get along with their neck carve.

I've had a few Carvins over the years. All of them were great. My main bass is a Carvin. I like it better than any bass I've tried. I'll be looking for a used Carvin 5 string bass at some point in the future.

I don't know why... But I like those headless ones... Especially the orange one with the zebrawood board. :embarrassed:
