I like U2’s two best records (Achtung, Baby and Zooropa) a lot and they’ve got some great tracks over the course of their career.
R.E.M.‘s IRS albums are pretty rad. And there’s some real gems in the major label stuff. I would probably give R.E.M. the nod.

Love them both in their primes, but U2 was an absolute force at their best. The Edge did some absolutely amazing things with skill set he had and is one of my favorite live guitarists. They win for me.
