Apparently people are buying trucks again.

Goes to figure....construction and domestic oil/gas production are on the upswing, incentives are good and businesses can write off 100% of big old trucks in year 1 rather than depreciating over several years. Given the choice, people seem to love driving around in excess capacity.

I think the other factor in play for businesses is that many of them have put off purchases like this for so long that the work trucks they bought before the economy turned are falling apart.

Yeah that's probably true too...though IIRC trucks have been some of the best selling vehicles in the US for the past several years.

It would be interesting to see the percent that are company purchase versus private sale. No shortage of truck buyers here in Florida. Not sure if there ever really was, as people here seem to love jacked up pickups. I have no need for a giant truck that gets bad gas mileage, so I'll stick with my little econoboxes.

Well, there's always Texas.

(Texans are snickering since truck sales never seem to dip here)

its been interesting watching the business pass through my inlaws shop over the last few years as budgets for state, local and federal agencies fluctuate.
