Maton El Toro 1969 Toro Red / Redburst

One of the rarest vintage Maton electrics (only 57 made). The El Toro was Maton's version of the Danelectro Longhorn, but made with honduras mahogany and top quality parts. I'm the second owner of this guitar... the original owner played this everyday and it's got the beautiful wear to prove it, which the photos show. Neck is in great condition, really low action. For the full story, check out guitarnerd.com.au

The guitar is all original and comes complete with the original Stamford case.

Cool! I wonder what it sounds like, considering that it has Maton's take on a humbucker.

I remember when Hondo made Longhorn copies that had Humbuckers.

I have never quite seen the appeal of that design. This, however, has enough mojo to give it a limited appeal to me.

You know.......I almost like that.

I know Maton made electrics, but have never seen this one before. (I realize they only made 57 of them.....)

It's definitely strange.

I'd like to try it out.

in 2000 or so, I got a gig playing bass, but I didn't own a bass. So I had to get one fast and cheap. I went to my local GC and they had a used Dano Longhorn bass. It was the cheapest bass they had, so I gave it a try with really no intention on buying it. It was the lightest bass I have ever played and it sounded really good for the music I was going to be playing, so I snagged it. So now I don't know if I dig the design or because I played one for 5 years I now like the design.

Tom Petty (the musician, not the forumite) plays one of those in a couple of Traveling Wilbury videos. Is that short scale or regular?
