2012 Michael Spalt Sybil Resin Top

Summary: Michael Spalt
makes unique instruments that push the boundries and open new possibilities in
the modern world. Simple controls with
exquisite design. This guitar resembles
a Stratocaster and it plays and sounds awesome.

Body: Solid body double
cutaway electric guitar with a mahogany body & a wonderfully designed Resin
top.

Neck:
Mahogany neck with a Madagascar Rosewood
fingerboard, dot inlays, 24.75” scale length, 1 5/8” nut width.

Pickups/Hardware: BoneTop
splittable BoneTop humbucker in bridge, BoneTop SC in middle and neck,Volume
knob, Tone knob w/push-pull, 5-way rotary switch, Hipshot fixed bridge, Gotoh
vintage style tuners, Dunlop Straplocks, chrome hardware.

Cosmetics: This beautiful
Spalt is in great shape! There are a few
pick scratches on the top but the Resin tops do a great job of hiding scratches
so you have to look hard to find anything.
The back is also in great shape with very little wear besides some
scratching on the metal back plate.

Playability:
This particular guitar has a chunky neck that is
super comfortable to play. We set this
instrument up with 10’s and it plays great up & down the fingerboard.

It’s funky, but the funky bits don’t get in the way.
I kinda like it.

For some reason, the image of Vernon Reid playing it popped into my head.

I don't hate it, I kinda like parts of it...I just don't like the random parts on it.

I like that the luthier is going for different, but not stupid different. Very cool in it's own way. That said, I'm not a superstrat guy, and at it's bones that is a superstrat.

This looks like something a broke “artist” made out of stuff found on the streets of the East Village on garbage day.
