1989 Gibson Flying V90

I've had this guitar for a while now and have had some custom work done professionally on it. A Dimarzio D-Activator X neck pickup has been installed. (I used the neck pick up because it gives the guitar a tighter lead and rhythm tone) A Kahler soloist tremelo system. (This things stays in tune amazing no matter what you do to it as long as you set it right and change the strings regularly, as good as a floyd, if not better with much less hassle, and much more guitar left thanks to only being front mounted. There are dings on the body, and cracks on the finish, but those are all cosmetic and do no harm to the guitar itself. A stop has been glued in place behind the locking nut clamp to balance out the tension caused by the strings, and an adapter plate has been added underneath the kahler to set it to an optimum height for low actions, minimal fret buzz, and tuning stability.

It has recently had it's frets dressed and has been set up professionally. The case is scratched up but holds together great for being gigged with regularly. It has briefcase like clamps, and the inside cloth is more like a blanket than anything which is pretty cool. This guitar is unique as this is the only 25.5 scale guitar that Gibson came out with as a standard model, 24 fret Gibson guitars that were standard, I'm not sure why that stopped making them, but I know that these are really hard to come by now.

Overall this guitar is in great condition for it's age and I honestly don't want to let it go, but due to moving circumstances I need money. So I hope this guitar can find a good home. It shreds, it rips, it has amazing cleans and any kind of genre you want. Oh, and the clip strap comes along with it as well. (the tape on the pickup screw is there because for some reason, the screw included with the new pickup would not stay in properly, while the other one would, so it's just been taped down to hold it there, I haven't tried, but a new screw would probably solve this problem)

Thanks to Albert King and Dan Erlewine I have a great appreciation for the classic/original flying V design...in the right hands (Lonnie Mack being another). From a hard rock and metal perspective the Schenkers and Kirk also work, but out side of that I'm not a fan of the style or the music of most who use it.

This is a particularly bad one to boot.

I've always wanted a V90, so thanks for posting this! I have an SG90, and it's just an incredible guitar. They did some cool things with these. I'm waiting for one to go cheap somewhere, hoping that because it's not for everyone, it would be a good buy.

These guitars could be had with Steinberger and Floyd Rose trems too.
