Too Controversial To Have An Athleisure Line
I went totally digital when gigging long ago. My Classic 30 has been sitting with blown tubes and a blown fuse for years. Live, I was playing a BOSS GX-100 into a Headrush frfr, and at home I practice with a Fender Super Champ. Well, I'm not gigging anymore, and I wanted something a little more versatile for practicing (and maybe recording) at home. Enter the Katana Gen 3 50 Ex combo. It arrived today, and I tested out all the things--high gain with a Charvel, spanky clean with a Strat, crunch with a Tele, and "pushed" with a D'Angelico semihollow. It sounds freaking great! And there's an adjustable lead boost and a bunch of effects. Really simple to dial in a usable sound. Definitely a keeper.

Yeah - people who dump on digital these days either haven't given it a try in like 20 years or are just so set in their opinions that they'll never accept the fact that digital is at least 90% of the way there and the <10% matters to absolutely nobody who's listening...

Happy New Katana Day!

I’ve been impressed with what Boss has done with Katana. I have a Katana Go headphone amp. It’s a versatile modeling engine.

When you get down to brass tacks its all the amp anybody needs these days.
As loud as anyone will let you play live, easy to record, good tube emulation, all the effects you need included, & cheap as dirt.

Tested out the direct recording tones today. Clean, crunch, and pushed all sound great, but the high gain stuff is a little fizzy. I’ll have to take a deep dive into the Tone Studio to see what tweaks I can make to cab/mic model or IR, as well as EQ.

We have one at the school that was donated last year that lives in my primary guitar classroom. I'm not sure what generation it is but I like playing through it. Haven't used it in a band situation but there are some nice sounds to be had.
