Oh yeah…. My choices for 1981: High n Dry, Escape, Fire Down Under. In fact... listening to the Riot album front to back right now... forgot how good it was. :baimun:

1982... much tougher and my choices might change from day to day.... but I gotta go Prince, Scorpions, Judas Priest. :helper:

Styx, Triumph, and Joan Jett.

I was going to pick Foreigner instead of JJ, but I’ve recently really listened to the lyrics and a lot of them are kinda cringe.

1999 and Combat Rock and I’m out. I mean, those are the two records out of these that I have.

i can still buy any of those records now, no need for it to be that year... now if it were 1922 and i bought a copy of Van Halen III that would be something to write home about

1981~ Styx - Paradise Theater, Def Leppard - High "n' Dry, Joan Jett - I love Rock 'n' Roll. I listened to those, plus Triumph, and Foreigner, at the time. I even went to see Foreigner live in concert during the 80's, cringe lyrics and all. :embarrassed: I saw Styx live twice during the 90's.

1982 ~ Judas Priest - Screaming For Vengeance, The Clash - Combat Rock, Prince - 1999. I listened to those albums, plus Scorpions, RUSH, Siouxsie & The Banshees, Iron Maiden at the time. I've seen RUSH live many times, but Signals is not my favorite album. I saw Siouxsie Sioux live at Lollapalooza 1991. I saw Iron Maiden play live twice during the 90's.

My choices today would be different than my choices in 81 or 82

Allied forces for sure since they played at my high school in the 70's

Rush because they almost did but were too expensive (budget was $1500 they were $2000 IIRC)

I'd certainly want Prince now and maybe Iron Maiden but back then probably not

1)Denim and Leather. Who writes a song about a steam locomotive that delivers mail? Saxon does.

2)I have that Fire Down Under album. They printed Fire Down Below on the side of the album jacket. I blame Bob Segar.

3)High and Dry.

No sexual innuendo here. It's about a mail train.

Styx Paradise Theater is a masterpiece.
Triumph
Joan

82
Rush
I like the Scorpions but, not that album.
Really dislike the rest

81...Joan Jett, Styx, Foreigner

82,,,Priest, Clash and either Prince or Maiden.

But honestly I was a Jazz Snob in the early 80's. North Texas and all that....
