Official MWGL 2026 Stoopid Dealz Thread.....

Lap steels are generally very cheap, so it just depends on how much you want to spend. For example, you can get a good condition 1950's Gibson lap steel on Reverb for around $1,000. Fenders and Rickenbackers run a little more because they were used on more records, but they're still less than...

It’s 2026… Are you using an amp or a modeler on stage?

I go back and forth. I'm already lugging around a heavy pedal steel, so the amp (Fender Tone Master Deluxe Reverb, which is technically modeling, anyway) is a piece of cake by comparison. Sometimes we're all using in-ears, so the amp is just extra work, and I can get the job done with a pedal...

Looks like I am joining the C - club....

My dad had colon cancer at 38, and I definitely would have had it by now if I weren't getting checked regularly. I'm glad you got it taken out, and I hope your recovery is quick and smooth.

Question: HEAT CHECK - Would I like to post a thread to gauge the interest in possibly maybe having a "Smurfstock" get-together in Austin in May (or September)?

I think the internet has just changed a lot. When I first got into Harmony Central and then MWGL, socializing on the internet was mostly about visiting disparate forums. Now that Reddit, FB, Discord, Youtube, etc users are churning out so much interaction, I would bet that there's just a lot...

    So Euro residents.... Nando's?....

I've never cared for it, and I'm a pretty big fan of marinated chicken in general. My South African wife and in-laws have great memories of it back in the old country, but none of our visits to the US locations have been worthwhile.

Jimmy John’s - yea or nay?

My city is generally a great food town, but we don't have a strong sandwich scene. I got hooked on Italian sandwiches when I used to travel to PA and NJ a lot for work. I no longer do that. Jimmy Johns does my favorite Italian sub in town, so I eat there every few months.

What Decade Marks Your Young Childhood?

The 80s were great. My youth was very similar to your description @jrockbridge. It's hard for me to imagine being as loose with the kid supervision as my parents were. But then again I got into a lot of things way too young that have probably had negative effects on my physical and mental...
